'the natural way to heal your body'

SMOKERS ........ do you want to quit?
Do you think it would be a good idea?
Don't you think maybe you should?
A cigarette doesn't just contain tobacco!

A cigarette contains ...... Cadmium (a metal used in batteries), Formaldehyde (used to preserve dead bodies), Shellac (used in wood varnish), Acetone, Benzene, Arsenic & Ammonia ..... would you consume any of these chemicals knowingly? The answer to that is probably NO because you know how foolish and even fatal that could be!!

We all know the dangers of contracting cancer from the effects of smoking, we also know that the cancer may not only be contracted by the smoker, but also by the friends and family who may not smoke but are regularly in the company of someone that does, do you want to lose some of your best friends and family?

Don't you pay enough taxes through income and fuel duty, to name just two? Why give the government more of your hard earned money through buying cigarettes.

If you give up smoking you will begin to enjoy the wonderful flavours and aromas that can be found in fresh food and the fresh air that we all take so much for granted; that air, especially in the home will then become a little fresher for having one less smoker!!!

There is a very effective method for helping people to completely give up if they really want to, it is no magic wand but it is having very successful results. Boosting endorphin levels is one major part of the treatment as this helps you to feel calm and more relaxed whilst breaking the smoking habit.

The method mentioned is Laser therapy and it is applied by directing pulsing infra red beams on specific acupuncture points, which has been tested and proven at the Middlesex Hospital in double blind studies [see report below].

It is necessary to commit to five sessions of this treatment, the first three are to be received over three consecutive days then sessions on the seventh and fourteenth days after the initial treatment. The reason for this is to raise the endorphins and keep them high whilst the mind copes with a change in habit and the body goes through a rebalancing act, ie: the blood sugar rebalances because nicotine stimulates the adrenal glands, circulation begins to improve and during these processes irritability is kept to a minimum.

As well as the methods described above we discuss a strategy to help you through the change. Weight gain is normally not a problem with this treatment, cravings are kept to a minimum, the sinuses are also treated to stimulate self cleansing of nicotine etc, all of this will lead to longer term improved health and fitness.

We all know how easy and crazy it is to start smoking, it is also easy but not so crazy to stop, if you feel that you would like to, if not for your health then for your pride, please call, email or view website. If you are a relative, friend, associate or employer and would like to encourage someone you know who smokes to give up, why not buy them a voucher to go towards the cost of treatment as an incentive.

Abstract of study carried out at Middlesex University by Dr Catherine Kerr and team

Aim: to determine whether the application of laser acupoint stimulation to previously reported effective ear and body acupuncture points was successful in reducing the physical symptoms of withdrawl, so promoting a complete cessation of smoking.

Design: The method used was that of a double blind, randomised controlled trial and semi structured interviews . Adult volunteers (n=415), were recruited following a television appeal. After initial screening and application of inclusion/exclusion criteria the volunteers (n=387), were randomly allocated to either of the treatment groups A or B or C

Intervention:Three laser treatments on days 1,3,7 of the programme and one sham treatment on day 14 (Group A) or 4 laser treatments carried out on days 1,3,7 & 14 (Group B) or Group C with four sham treatments on days 1,3,7 and 14. Sham treatments used an inactive probe identical in appearance to active probe. Findings: Groups A and Group B participants achieved a higher rate of non smoking than Group C. Of the two groups, four treatments (Group B) was more effective than the three treatments (Group A). The differences in the non smoking behaviours of all three groups were statistically significant. Subjective data reported a lessening of withdrawl symptoms after laser treatment.

Conclusions: Laser acupoint stimulation can assist in smoking cessation by reducing the physical symptoms of withdrawl
