Olha Syeverova

The greatest gift we have is our body and it is important to value and care for it. More and more people are realising how much they can benefit from an expert massage.

Tension, tiredness, pain from everyday living, desk work, heavy lifting, sports or even recovery from surgery can all be helped with a wide range of massage techniques drawn from a large reservoir of knowledge and practice built up over centuries.

What some of her clients say

Over several years, Olha has utilised her experiences in many different techniques to provide highly effective and targeted personalised treatments. Her dedication to continued professional development ensures continual, high quality, optimal care. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Dr. Amita Petal

Seeing Olha for massage has kept me going through stressful times, creaky days, and a treatment is always a celebration of being alive! I love her for her skills, wisdom and generosity of spirit. Olha is a gem, and I feel so lucky to have found her to work in Exeter”.

Lesley x.

I feel so lucky to have found Olha. After seeing osteopath, physiotherapist and chiropractic, she is the only one who has helped me with pain in neck and upper back. Olha is way more than your standard masseuse. She has such an in depth knowledge of human body it works. That + enormous experience + empathy = life saver for those who suffer from neck and back pain. I have always left comfortable and at ease when visiting her plus she also recommends things I can do at home to help and maintain pain free neck and back. Finally a person who I can trust to help me with pain - is it in emergency or just for maintenance.

Lina L.

The last treatment was so helpful. I came in feeling all scrunched up and left feeling smoothed out. You really found and sorted the muscles that needed the most work. Thank you.

Remedial and Sport massage

Too often people are given medication to dull the pain when a course of massage could help them back to health and able to take part again in their favourite activities. My level 5 training puts at my finger tips a wide range of advanced techniques, skills and up to date knowledge to help you back to health. Sport massage unfortunately has a reputation for being painful – that’s just not right! It’s about using that wide range of much more advanced techniques to make your treatment more effective and rapid. The special soft tissue techniques have a much wider application than just preparation and recovery from sports activities too – they are also appropriate for long standing chronic or deep seated muscular injuries of many kinds.

Advanced massage techniques can do wonders for you, but remember it can take some time. Longstanding pain and discomfort usually needs a series of treatments. So, if you choose this wonderful way of natural wellbeing to help with chronic pain which you have had for a long time, be ready to plan a series of appointments, preferably at weekly intervals and be prepared to help your recovery by doing any exercises which are advised in between sessions.

Massage and Myofascial Release (MFR) can also be a part of post operative treatment, restoring pliability to scar tissue and speeding up recovery.

Facial massage

One of my favourite massages is a wonderful facial massage, using my own aromatherapy oils (included in the price so there are no extra charges)

Relaxation

for when you are stressed out by the pressures of daily living - hot stone, essential oils, heated bamboo rollers to help you release that muscular tension, re-energise and recover.

Reflexology

uses special finger/thumb manipulations to stimulate reflex points, which are thought to stimulate the flow of energy to the corresponding body part. This gradually helps to restore balance and stimulate the body's ability to heal itself, physically and emotionally. It can take several treatments to awaken the reflexes and really start to see some effect but most people experience even one treatment as deeply relaxing.

My Approach

I've always been amazed by the wisdom and beauty of nature, which led me to study Biomedical Sciences at Kiev University, over six years. After a successful career in research and teaching medical students in my home country, Ukraine, I started to feel an itch to explore natural methods of healing so I trained in massage. I've attended many courses in Ukraine and U.K and my latest achievement is a Level 5 Diploma at St. Mary's University in London and I'm not stopping there! - I continue to learn and study. Each course has equipped me with specific techniques so I now have a very extensive range of tools to ease aches and pain, help with injuries, maintenance and conditioning or just to provide you with a great relaxing massage - a lovely treat!

I see my treatment as a fusion of different modalities to achieve the best result for you using a wide range of techniques including advanced remedial, sport and soft tissue, essential oils, comforting hot stones or warm bamboo canes.

I offer a bespoke treatment, tailored especially for you and your needs. If you aren’t sure what sort of massage you need - don’t worry, we’ll discuss it together at your appointment and find the best solution for you.

The human body is beautiful and fascinating but too often neglected. Make sure you look after yours!

Carly Pickering

"Work leaves my body feeling stressed and tense."

"I’d love to have a healthier lifestyle but injury stops me."

"My work demands a lot of my body and it is beginning to complain!"

Whether you are looking to relieve stress and tension from day-to-day life, ease aches and pains or improve athletic performance, I am here to help restore the balance. My goal is to help you to a healthier and happier life through massage and a better understanding of how to look after yourself. Each treatment is tailored to your specific needs using a combination of techniques.

What some of her clients say

“I booked a session with Carly at Phoenix massage therapies after suffering with aches and stress. I felt calm and looked after the whole time. Carly created a relaxing environment for me and managed to pinpoint the problem areas in my back and neck. As soon as I'd had my first massage, I booked in for another! Thanks to Phoenix massage therapies for a great treatment at a great price. I'll certainly be booking again.”

“I've never had such a good massage. Carly paid attention to areas like my knees and hands which I haven't had done before which felt amazing!”

“My sessions with Carly were to alleviate fatigue from exercise. Carly was welcoming and friendly, putting me at ease immediately. She exuded confidence and competence throughout, while ensuring problem areas were given special attention. I left my sessions relaxed and feeling lighter.”

Swedish massage

Swedish massage is most commonly known for its ability to provide relaxation; however, it also boasts a whole range of other benefits including easing feelings of stress and anxiety, relief from muscle tension, just to mention a few.

Trigger Point therapy

Trigger Point therapy is used in conjunction with Swedish or deep tissue massage to speed up the recovery of repetitive microtrauma, overuse and acute trauma to the muscle fibres. It is a very effective technique used to treat many conditions which may not be deemed as a muscular issue. For example, trigger point therapy has been shown to help with conditions such as head pain, RSI, limited range of motion and much more. Pain is alleviated though isolated pressure and release into specific areas of concern.

Deep Tissue massage

Deep tissue massage is used to help manage conditions which cause chronic tension and pain. It breaks down the ‘knots’ that can disrupt circulation and cause pain and inflammation.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a very gentle form of treatment, it works with the lymphatic system which lies just one millimetre under the surface of the skin. The movements are slow and rhythmic, so the treatment is deeply relaxing. The techniques aid the removal of metabolic waste, bacteria, toxins, foreign substances and excess water. MLD is used as preventative measure or as a treatment and is recommended for the following:

  • Removes the build up of additional fluids post operation
  • Enhances the activity of the immune system
  • Helps to clear sinus congestion and headaches
  • Improves the look of cellulite and puffiness
  • Reduces pain from swelling
  • Reduces pain and stiffness from Fibromyalgia
  • Reduces Oedema and water retention
  • Relaxes the sympathetic nervous system
  • Reduce the chance of minor colds and viruses
  • Increase in overall wellbeing and energy

Seated chair massage

Seated chair massage is ideal if you struggle with lying on your stomach or have mobility problems. Specifically designed to be a flexible mobile treatment, it’s an effective way to reduce the build-up of tension in the back, neck and shoulders. However, it also offers a whole range of other benefits such as enhancing creative thinking and problem solving, helping to prevent injury from repetitive movements such as typing and much more.

Pregnancy massage

Pregnancy massage can be beneficial for both mum and baby, not only can it help with relaxation but can alleviate back pain, fatigue, and other ailments commonly related to pregnancy such as indigestion, morning sickness, heartburn and more. Research has shown that the feel-good endorphins felt by mum during a massage can be passed onto baby. I will guide you through different couch positions to keep you comfortable and relaxed.

My Approach

I quickly came to realise that many people are prevented from leading a healthier and more active life by stress, tension, injury and other health conditions when I started work as a personal trainer following my degree in exercise and sport sciences at Exeter University. My training in massage means I can help you to remove these obstacles to living life to the full as well as offer you expert guidance on how to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle.

Since retraining in massage therapies, I haven't looked back. I am passionate about what I do and feel very lucky that I have been a part of many people’s journeys back to health. My aim is to provide you with a friendly and welcoming environment where your health and wellbeing comes first - offering a programme to support you as a unique individual.

ScarWork, Myofascial Release

Deep Tissue, Swedish & Rejuvenating Facial Massage

Reduce stress, Improve mobility, Resolve pain

All my treatments aim to restore you to feeling less stressed with an increased range of mobility and less pain. I tailor your treatment to suit your needs - whether this is a relaxing and therapeutic massage, a Myofascial Release treatment or a combination of the two. We start the first session with a brief consultation to decide together the best treatment for you. Overall, my focus is to relieve and prevent pain by increasing movement in your joints and soft tissues. I aim to provide you with a treatment that is both relaxing and also beneficial for your body, not only now but in the long term.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is most commonly known for its ability to provide relaxation; however, it also boasts a whole range of other benefits including easing feelings of stress and anxiety, relief from muscle tension, just to mention a few.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a safe, gentle and effective hands-on treatment, which can help with chronic pain, injury and reduced mobility. By feeling and stretching slowly into the fascial network, application of gentle pressure facilitates the release of restrictions.

In my experience, I have witnessed that this lighter, sustained and more informed touch allows the body to heal at a much deeper level, facilitating physical, emotional and psychological change often providing profound and long lasting results.

Fascia is one continuous structure of connective tissue, that exists from head to toe without interruption. It covers and interpenetrates every muscle, bone, nerve, artery and vein, as well as all the internal organs, connecting all parts of the body to each other, which should in a healthy condition glide and moves without restriction.

Physical and emotional trauma, repetitive movements, inflammatory responses, poor posture and surgical procedures can be stored in the facial system, causing scaring and hardening, not only in the affected area but also along the tension lines imposed on it, causing the fascial network to lose its cushioning mechanism and internal structures to be pulled out of alignment, causing pain, restriction and lack of function and mobility. Fortunately Fascia responds really well to hands-on release therapy!

ScarWork

ScarWork is a very gentle non-invasive scar healing therapy.

Following surgery or trauma, different layers of tissue can sometimes get stuck during the healing process forming lumps, holes, ridges and gaps. Movement might be restricted and scars might feel uncomfortable. Scars can also be left numb in places and might be seen as a disfigurement. Many people have an aversion to touching their scars because of how they look and how they feel. They can also be a reminder of a traumatic event.

ScarWork can change that around. ScarWork is very delicate. It includes over 20 techniques developed by Sharon Wheeler, a Rolfer and Bodyworker from Seattle with over 40 years experience. Sharon’s techniques smooth out uneven scars painlessly and permanently. ScarWork is just as effective on very old scars – not just new ones. ScarWork predominantly improves how scars feel, however the cosmetic effect can also be remarkable. Keloid scars, burns and skin grafts can also benefit.

What some of her clients say

"I had a block of 4 Facial massages from Michelle and I would definitely recommend. I felt so calm during the treatments and after it felt like I was unblocked and my boyfriend said my face looks better, fuller. If I could I would have a massage with you every week!”

- Stania D

"I was having pains and stiffness in different parts of my body – back, neck, upper arms and foot – and after seeing Michelle for a Swedish massage when my back was particularly bad, she told me about MFR and how it might benefit me all-over. I’ve had several treatments now and besides having less pain, I can also feel a difference in how my body deals with upcoming stiffness. I would definitely recommend her, both as an MFR and massage therapist."

- Maurita VD

"Last February 2022, I had an operation on my shoulder and post-operatively, Michelle gave me a treatment. She has a soothing and calming manner and explained at every stage what she was doing in order to help my body re-integrate after the trauma of surgery.  Her touch is gentle but confident and she radiates professionalism. I experienced the treatment as healing and am very grateful to Michelle for the session she gave me. I would recommend her wholeheartedly as a Myofascial Release therapist. Now almost a year on, I can barely see the scar and it gives me no discomfort at all. When Michelle did her treatment my scar was still inflamed (though healed) and uncomfortable. Michelle gave me confidence that it would improve and indeed it has, this really did help."

- Liz C

Facial Massage

Many people hold tension in their facial muscles which can show itself in puffiness, lines and wrinkles. Releasing the tension can not only make you feel more relaxed but it can also help you look more relaxed as well as smoothing, lifting, and toning helping you both look and feel younger!

It's a wonderfully relaxing treatment in its own right and may also help improve sleep & sinus function.

For best effect book a set of four appointments over a month.

Deep Tissue

The focus is on the deeper layers of muscle and fascia where chronic restriction can disrupt muscle performance, health and range of movement. The treatments centre on reducing and ultimately eliminating ‘knots’, scar tissue and realigning collagen fibres in specific areas as required.

My Approach

In my practise, I have witnessed that sustained and more informed touch allows the body to heal at a much deeper level and as such facilitates physical, emotional and psychological change, providing profound and longer lasting results.

We start the first session with a brief consultation to decide together the best treatment for you. Overall, my focus is to ease pain by increasing movement in your joints and soft tissues. I always aim to provide you with a treatment that is both relaxing and also beneficial for your body, not only now but in the long term.

You may be offered homecare advice, to integrate the treatments for longer lasting results, the suggestions can easily be incorporated into a busy daily routine.

With problems that have built up over time, these may take longer to heal and require a course of treatments to resolve.

What some of his clients say

I first met Adam in November 2022. I was quite nervous as I don’t like massages. However, it turned out that I was always looking forward to meet with Adam. First of all, Adam was accommodating with time and days which was a great relief. Secondly, the massages were done with just the music in the background and I was thankful for that as I am not a great talker. This was the second relief. Finally, for the actual massages

I believe Adam has the right skills to achieve his chosen path. Discrete, thorough and professional he made me feel at ease. Adam explained the processes and I felt more relaxed. He also explained the benefits and gave me some advice. Each session has been beneficial for my health (mentally and physically). I am truly grateful for all the hard work Adam has done with me and so thankful to have had the opportunity to met him.

Anne

When I booked a massage with Adam, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. His approach to massage is refreshingly original, combining various techniques that left me feeling deeply relaxed and restored. What truly sets Adam apart is his intuitive understanding of his client’s needs, ensuring a personalized and transformative experience. His warm and inviting presence, combined with his expert skills, made my massage session truly unforgettable. I wholeheartedly recommend Adam to anyone in search of a truly unique and rejuvenating massage.

Yuliya

I had massages with Adam a few times. It happened during a period of my life when I was very stressed and anxious. The massages helped me a lot. They helped me become more relaxed and improved my quality of sleep. I noticed that I started walking straighter, as well as had less tension in my body. I feel grateful and would like to recommend Adam’s massages as very good and helpful.

Iryna

After struggling with chronic back pain for years, I finally decided to try a deep-tissue massage with Adam. I must say, it was a game-changer! The therapist's expertise in targeting deep layers of muscle tissue and relieving tension was incredible. The sessions were intense but completely worth it. Not only did I experience immediate relief, but the effects lasted long after the massage. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, and my mobility has greatly improved. I highly recommend Adam's deep tissue massage to anyone seeking a lasting solution for their chronic pain. Thank you!
